soundsalad is a social music discovery app. We built it to help you share music moments with close friends — not to collect your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
We encourage anonymous participation — soundsalad only requires a nickname. No email address, phone number, or real name is needed to use the app.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties. In the future, we may use aggregated music genre data from your captures to provide personalized features such as event suggestions and music taste comparisons between connections. This will always be based on your in-app activity only.
When you capture a song, soundsalad optionally records the location where the capture happened. This location is stored with your capture and visible to your connections in the feed and on the map. Location is only captured at the moment of song identification — we do not track your location in the background.
soundsalad uses the following third-party services to operate:
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary for these services to function.
soundsalad requests microphone access solely to identify music playing around you via Apple ShazamKit. Audio is processed on-device and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers.
soundsalad requests access to your photo library solely to allow you to set a profile avatar. photos are only accessed when you explicitly choose to upload a profile picture. we do not access, store, or transmit any photos other than the one you select as your avatar.
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal information, captures, reactions, and comments will be permanently deleted from our database. Some residual data may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
You can delete your account directly from within the app via the feedback section in your profile. Account deletion is permanent — all your captures, reactions, comments, and personal data will be removed within 7 days. You may also request deletion by contacting us at berkay.edis@bilgiedu.net.
soundsalad is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data is restricted to your friend connections as defined by the app's privacy model — your captures and profile are only visible to people you have explicitly connected with.
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use of soundsalad after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
